J.R. & The Stingrays opened the 2024 season of the Third Thursdays block party in Downtown Nampa last night. The weather was PERFECT and my favorite part of the evening was a line dance that broke out.

The Tuesday hangout for 20 weeks of the year is up and running again! I’m talking about “Tuesdays on the Creek” at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. Casio Dreams, an 80’s tribute band based in Boise, opened the 2024 season last night, much to the delight of dancers of all ages.

Avery Sologa, an Alt-Country singer/songwriter from Boise, played The 112 in Nampa Saturday evening. The place was pretty empty when he started, but as people passed by the open front door, they came in and stayed a while. Avery performed mostly covers, but tossed in this original: I Miss When I Was Young.
Steve Celi, who is part of Dark Desert Highway (an Eagles tribute band), played a perfect Spring evening at Vintage 61 Wine Bar & Kitchen in Meridian on Thursday. He played music from Elton John, Eagles, Lionel Richie, Billy Joel, Bill Withers, Bobby Caldwell, and more. Steve has the digital goods to make the music sound great, but somehow, he left his harmonica at home!! Here’s one of my favorite songs from James Taylor.

Nick Mattera is a singer and songwriter with a sound of hope, dreams, love and heart. He played Maddie’s Wine and Whiskey Wednesday evening, performing an impressive set of music from the likes of Counting Crows, America, Tears for Fears, Human League, and this one from Fleetwood Mac, with a little help from his friend Ryan Yost.

Lauren and the Nostalgics played Talon Tap & Spirits, the in-store bar at Albertsons in Meridian Saturday night. As you might expect, they played a string of oldies from artists like Tracy Chapman, Joe Cocker, Elle King and Blondie. However, the song everyone wanted to dance to (and get videos of) was “Sweet Home Alabama”.

Blaze & Kelly played a fabulous mix of originals and covers Friday evening at the Swirl Wine Shop and Lounge in Nampa. The first set started out on the mellow side, including this original song I captured. Not long after this, they didn’t even wait for the sun to go down before breaking out some Joe Cocker. After that, it was just a party. :-)

Playing Bluegrass Music at The Riverside Hotel’s Sand Bar Patio Thursday evening was the Tin Roof Terrors. As the high waters of the Boise River flowed nearby, what could be more fun than for some Grateful Dead music Bluegrass style!

CajonAlone is the one-man band of Matty J, plus an electric guitar, a harmonica, a kazoo, possible drum machine, and just about anything else you could imagine. Bring your own cowbell. What’s cool about Matty’s shows is he distributes these cards with QR codes to see the songs he knows, and punch in your requests.
BTW: The Indian Creek Winery has become my favorite Sunday funday destination. Loads of parking, bring your own chair, and all amenities are near-by this lovely outdoor spot with a stage. Great place for pets and kids too.
Hannah George is a cover artist from Boise, who made her way up the freeway to play the Swirl Wine Shop and Lounge in Nampa Saturday evening. She played music from the likes of Milk Carton Kids, Switchfoot, Jack Johnson and Glen Hansard. During the show she told us she had the opportunity to play an Irish pub, and while the Swirl might not top that, it’s a pretty cool place. I agree. Here is one of her favorite songs from Mt. Joy.
