Greg Hall is one of the best cover guys in the valley, and he played Swirl Wine Shop and Lounge Friday night. Greg LOVES to play, going his scheduled two hours and THEN some, without a break. Greg also takes his guitar-playing goodness to the band Kat Rodeo. I’ll be watching for one of their shows for sure.
Tim Stiles who plays “all your favorites from the 60’s, 70’s and beyond” did same at The Local on Monday evening. Tim played the valley for years before spending about a decade in Colorado, returning home recently. You won’t find him on Instagram but he’d love you to check him out on ReverbNation.com/timstilescolorado. If you enjoy the likes of America, The Beatles, James Taylor, Crosby stills Nash & Young, The Eagles, and Simon & Garfunkel, Tim is your guy!
Alexcis Menhart is a Country singer/songwriter based out of Boise. Sunday afternoon she braved a rather chilly and quite windy Sunday afternoon outdoors, playing music at Indian Creek Winery. During the show, she played this original which she will record in Nashville this fall. She will not only be RECORDING in Nashville, she will be MOVING there as well. So, if you want to catch her live, your chances are limited!
Nik Mathews, who specializes in playing acoustic rock covers at breweries, plays Brown Beard Brewing on Wednesdays. I captured him doing The Band, tossing in a bit of his own sliding & picking magic.
Valarie Mulberry, who plays sunshine Rhythm and Blues music, took to the outdoor stage at Indian Creek Winery in Kuna this afternoon. I’ve captured a bit of her song “Future Cowboy” about her nephew. Tomorrow (Monday) afternoon at 5:30, she will have a live performance on Radio Boise.
Saturday evening, Nick Ineck hosted a singer/songwriter event at The Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge in Nampa. The third artist he introduced was Jake Ineck, who just happens to be his cousin. They were in a band together years ago. Jake is quite the showman who had the house rocking with his music, accompanied by his cousin!
Second on the bill at the singer/songwriter event at The Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge Saturday night, was Darian Renee. In her set, she showcased a jazzy new song about being a strong, independent human called “Doing My Own Thing”. As an extension of her musical journey, Darian operates Muse Studios, described as “your new favorite collaborator for storytelling & creating”. Grab the URL on her profile as exciting news is coming.
Twice a year, Nick Ineck (a local drummer who spent several years touring nationally) hosts a singer/songwriter night at The Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge. Saturday evening, three local artists got an opportunity to tell their stories as written in song lyrics.
First up was Wes Schlag who tells his stories in the form of “cosmic conniptions”. Here is 60-seconds of “Help Me Dear”, a song about hurting himself on the back porch. Wes is accompanied by Nick banging on the box.
Dan Costello (@hearcostello) invited a few of his friends Darian Renee (@_darianrenee) and Jeremiah James (@jeremiahjamesagain) to join him at Twisted District Brewing (@twisted_district) Friday evening. The trio got on the stage for this one song, written and sung by Jeremiah.
Olivia Frost (@oliviafrostmusic) a singer/songwriter based in Boise plays Homestead Bar & Grill in Meridian (@homesteadbarandgrill) Saturday evening. Olivia is just back from Nashville where she recorded 8 new original pieces. They will come out as singles one at a time as they are mastered. I captured a bit of one of those songs called “Bad Actor”.
