Gary Tackett & Full Moon Rude is a Rockin’ Roadhouse band based out of Boise Idaho. Gary and company was the opening act at Tuesdays on the Creek in Caldwell this week. He was a studio musician in Nashville before moving to Boise 8 years ago. During that time, he was honored to play for Merle Haggard, and has been on the Grand Ole Opry stage.
Better Than Jam is Grant Wilson on guitar and Jami Wilson on fiddle, who play music from jazz to bluegrass, and some originals. As this married duo played the lawn at Kerry Hill Winery Saturday afternoon, the variety was so great you just didn’t know what kind of song would come next. The song I captured was an original about Bonnie & Clyde.
Rochelle & The James Gang is a local cover band that plays songs you love all over the Treasure Valley. Friday evening they played a variety of pop and country favorites at The Eddy in Marsing to a packed house.
Redstone, a Boise-based, retro-rock band, played Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza. I heard tunes I haven’t heard in decades from bands like Foghat, Edgar Winter, The Beatles, Grand Funk Railroad, Head East, Jefferson Starship, Tom Pretty, Eddie Money, Foreigner, Doobie Bros, Led Zeppelin and this from Joe Walsh.
Neon Moon, Brook Faulk’s band that specializes in driving 90’s country, played the Riverside Hotel’s Sandbar Patio Saturday evening. Neon Moon is Brook Faulk on vocals, Zack Roberts on acoustic, Mike Trail on electric, Lyle Evans on Bass, Russ Pfiefer on keys, and Flip Perkins on drums. This Dolly Parton classic provide a good example of their sound!
The Nicole Christiansen Band spent a warm Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Hotel’s Sandbar Patio, on the Greenbelt, a stone’s throw from the Boise River. They played mostly jazz standards with some jazzed-up pop and country. Along the way, they tossed in this original about following your dreams.
Blues To Lose is a Treasure Valley party/dance band. Friday evening, they played Rock and Blues classics from artists like Cream, CCR, Rolling Stones, Santana, and more at Broadway on the Rocks. Here’s a sample of “Born on the Bayou”.
Timothy P. Swanson gathered an impressive collection of players for Nampa’s Third Thursday last week. The hits just kept on coming including this Eagle tune, featuring David Atwood on Saxophone.
Michael F. Rose is an Boise singer/songwriter, and the front man for the band Bad Horse. On Sunday afternoon he played music for a bunch of folks in lawn chairs. He did mostly originals with a few covers tossed in. He said he doesn’t do James Taylor because James Taylor does James Taylor. :-)
Do yourself a favor and check out “New Song” wherever you listen to music when it releases Friday. In the meantime, here is his song “Touch’ which came him to a dream, and is wildly popular in Australia and New Zealand. I was able to find it online all over the place.
Father and son, Brian & Rook Crouse, presented their magical music Saturday evening at Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Caldwell. I say “magical” because they take familiar songs and turn them into something delightfully different. Along the way, we heard music from Tom Petty, Jim Croce, The Eagles, John Denver, America, Kenny Rogers, Jimmy Buffett, and this classic from Roger Miller.
