Twice a year, Nick Ineck (a local drummer who spent several years touring nationally) hosts a singer/songwriter night at The Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge. Saturday evening, three local artists got an opportunity to tell their stories as written in song lyrics.
First up was Wes Schlag who tells his stories in the form of “cosmic conniptions”. Here is 60-seconds of “Help Me Dear”, a song about hurting himself on the back porch. Wes is accompanied by Nick banging on the box.
Dan Costello (@hearcostello) invited a few of his friends Darian Renee (@_darianrenee) and Jeremiah James (@jeremiahjamesagain) to join him at Twisted District Brewing (@twisted_district) Friday evening. The trio got on the stage for this one song, written and sung by Jeremiah.
Olivia Frost (@oliviafrostmusic) a singer/songwriter based in Boise plays Homestead Bar & Grill in Meridian (@homesteadbarandgrill) Saturday evening. Olivia is just back from Nashville where she recorded 8 new original pieces. They will come out as singles one at a time as they are mastered. I captured a bit of one of those songs called “Bad Actor”.
Camille Hugo (@camillexhugo) who describes herself as a vintage girl living in a modern world, played Kerry Hill Winery (@kerryhillwinery) Saturday afternoon. We heard a couple hours of golden oldies from Anne Murray, The Beetles, Melanie, Sam Cooke, Patsy Cline, and one of my favorite Glen Campbell songs.
Andrew Chappell (@andrewchappellmusic), who believes every story deserves a song, playing Crescent Brewery (@crescent_brewery) Friday night. He did music from Willie Nelson, Damian Rice, Waylon Jennings, America, and this gem he wrote.
Soul-powered Shon Sanders (@shonsandersband) playing a solo show at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge (@swirlwineshopand) Wednesday evening. Even though he is flying solo, he is a master at the loop and is able to stitch together some great tunes. I captured an original, “What About Me”. By the way, he is back tomorrow (Thursday) from 6 to 8!
Emily Tipton (@emaleetipton) and Jonah Shue (@jonahshue) playing Bar 365 (@riversidehotelboise) on Saturday afternoon. I loves me some standards, and this duo makes each one their own, delivering them with pleasant surprises.
The Family Corvidae (Brook Faulk @brookfaulkmusic, Emily Tipton @emaleetipton, Rochelle Smith @roxxboise, and Meghan Kelly Watters @wattersmeghan) at Talon Tap & Spirits in Meridian. A “corvidae” is a family of perching birds and some of them are indeed songbirds :-) I captured just a bit of an original song.
Vibeka (@vibekaamador) plays a corner of The Local (@the.local.boise) on Monday evening. She describes herself as a Self proclaimed musician, song writer Wildflower, and a lover of iced tea. We share the third. :-) I captured a bit of The Local and one of her originals.
Greg Hall plays Mesquite Creek Outfitters (@mesquitecreekidaho) in Caldwell. Before his shows, he distributes a list of songs he knows so you can get your requests in! He knows a lot of songs. :-)
