Harry Dial is a singer of Blues, Soul, and Country music. He played his wide variety of music Saturday evening at Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Caldwell. We heard tunes from John Prine, U2, Wilson Pickett, Marvin Gaye, Brook Benton, John Denver, Marc Cohen, and Blind Faith. I had to capture this classic from Jerry Jeff Walker.
Lindzey Autumn is a Treasure Valley singer/songwriter who can deliver sweet and sorrowful messages with a soulful, clear and beautiful voice. There is nothing shallow here. Just returning from a five-month maternity leave, she played a quiet and captivated Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge Friday evening. She grew up in Star, and wrote “How It Used To Be” about how the town has changed.
Ashley Rose in a Jazz, Folk, R&B and Americana musician who performs solo, with a 6-piece band, and as a duo around the Treasure Valley. From Maddie’s Wine and Whiskey in Meridian Wednesday evening, here’s a Bob Dylan classic played by request.
Aaron Golay & The Original Sin, an Idaho-based singer & writer of sad & loud songs, was the opener at Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. The band played a mix of Americana, Rock & Soul, which included a song written in an Air B&B in April called The Change.
Dustin Morris is a long-time singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and touring artist, who has been making Soulful Indie-Folk with eccentric elements for 20+ years. He spent a few hours Sunday afternoon at the picturesque Kindred Vineyards at Caldwell. With some covers mixed in, Dustin did a show of mostly original music, including “Some Kind of Magic” the title track of his upcoming album.
Girl in the Garden is the project of Kate Plaisted, an Eagle, Idaho girl who was recently graduated from the prestigious University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. She played an interesting mix of covers and originals Saturday evening at The 112 in Nampa. Her covers included music from Stephen Sanchez, Stevie Nicks, Guns N’ Roses, Bill Withers, Zack Bryan, and Leonard Cohen. Here is “Montana”, the first Country song she wrote.
Double Down is made up of Rick on vocals and Jerry on guitar & all the tracked instruments. These guys will do anything from The Eagles to Louis Armstrong and are eager to share when songs are special to them. From the beautiful surroundings of Kindred Vineyards on Friday evening, here’s a little ditty from the Fab Four.
Rob Leines was the headliner for Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. The crowd (and dancers) were trated to some ****-kickin’ Country. This small three-piece band has a huge sound! Before learning guitar, Rob was a welder. This song is about that, called “Blue Collar”
Noble Holt & Captain Snafu was the opeing act for Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. They did mostly original rock n roll. Even though his sun-drenched guitar was difficult to keep in tune, Noble’s work was impressive.
Buddy DeVore and Rob Matson of The Faded Cowboys played their western honky tonk music at Swirl Wine Shop and Lounge Saturday evening. We heard mostly covers from folks like Johnny Paycheck, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, George Strait, Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, and others. Here is one of the originals they sprinkled in called “Mountain scenery”, about Buddy being one of the luckiest men alive.
